Happy Day of Pentecost!!!

Updated: May 17, 2020

Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting. And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 2:1-4

Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing great! I just wanted to stop by with a quick message!

Today is the Day of Pentecost, also known as Shavuot! What is the Day of Pentecost you may ask?! It is the commemoration of Moses bringing the 10 Commandments to the Israelites after their exodus from Egypt. It is ALSO the celebration of God gifting His people with the Holy Spirit! Wow! A two for one!! How awesome is that?!

As a follower of the Messiah, the Holy Spirit is given to us to guide and direct us into the ways of God, just as the law was given to guide and instruct the Israelites into God’s ways. The Spirit writes the Word of God in our hearts to cause us to be led into the God’s holy and perfect ways. The Spirit gives us various gifts such as prophecy, wisdom, tongues, miracles, healing, discerning of spirits, etc. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). The Father creates us and gives us a gift that best fits how He wants us to bring more people into His knowledge and truth!  He teaches us and reminds us of the things that Jesus said (John 14:15-31). The Spirit comforts us and reminds us that God is still with us in the midst of any trial or hardship.

Though the Spirit teaches and guided us towards righteousness, at times we ignore its power and continue operating in our flesh. This can cause grievance within The Spirit. Jesus says that the world cannot accept Him [Holy Spirit] because it neither sees nor knows Him (John 14:17). We at times take for granted and don’t realize the power that we have been given as gifted with. We don’t have to continue living a sinful, purposeless, godless life. We can have a full life because of the Holy Spirit that dwells within us!

The Day of Pentecost is a great reminder of God’s love, grace, and never ending faithfulness to His people. So as the day comes to an end, let’s praise God for the gift of His spirit. Let’s praise Him for allowing us to get to know His spirit. Let’s thank Him for giving us His spirit to guide us into His truth. Let’s ask for forgiveness if we have grieved the Spirit. Most importantly, let’s allow the Spirit to guide His to the truth of our Heavenly Father!

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your Spirit. Thank you for giving us a constant reminder of your love and faithfulness to us. Help us to listen to what Your Spirit says so that we may walk in your ways and in your truth. Forgive us for when we grieve Your Spirit and take advantage of this gift you have given us. Give us peace and protection as we go about our week.  I love you and thank you for giving us this Holy Day to worship you!

In Yeshua/Jesus name,

AMEN!
