We Don't Take God Seriously... (pt.3)

Hello! It has been some time but I am back at it again with another post! :-)

The past 2 entries have been about reasons and situations as to how people do not take God as seriously as we should. Now that we realize we don't take Him seriously, how do we take him more seriously?

The first step into taking God more seriously is realizing you need to change/need help. If we continuously have our walls up and don't think we need to change, then why would we need God's help. He's is here to protect, comfort, heal, and restore us. Until you let your pride down and have a desire to want to do better, then God is of no use to you.

The next step into taking God more seriously is knowing how real He is. We tend to get into the mindset of "seeing is believing". We lose sight of God because we cannot physically see, touch, and hear Him. God is just as real as you and me. Think about it like this, can you see air or wind? No, but we know it is there. We can feel the wind's presence and we see it's impact. God is the same way. We need to believe that He will always keep his promises.

"...18 it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf." -Hebrews 6:18-20

We need to chang eour mindset from thinking this is a duty to this is a relationship! Just like every other type of relationship we have, it needs time to grow and flourish. We need to take time and talk to God, like how we take time to talk to our friend's on the phone. From getting to know God more, you will want to eliminate certain people, movies, TV shows, music, events, etc. that will hinder your relationship. It can be, in a sense, spiritual cheating, when we choose other things over God. The next time you are watching or listening to something or at an event, think, would Jesus sit here and watch this with you?

Lastly, we need to tell someone!!! I have alredy talked about having an accountability partner in a previous blog, but I cannot stress it enough. There are people who will know more about God than you, OR they know different things about God that can help you grow in relationship with him. James 5:16 says to confees our sins to one another that we may be healed. It is important to tell someone so they can possibly help guide you back to God if you get lost. That person can be there to remind you of how amzing God is and how much He loves you!

I really hope this blog helps someone! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me! Thank you all so much and I hope to see you soon!
